"Because 10 feels patriarchal" -Amy Pohler
I have had a flood of ideas and creativity for this project since it started and "creative" isn't necessarily something I would identify as a major strength of mine. At times it has felt overwhelming to control my brain and get these ideas into an organized structure, something high on my strengths list. I have developed "The 9 Mindsets of Secondhand Style" as a working document to guide us through a comfortable, confident, and conscious lifeSTYLE. As with everything on this site, take what works and leave the rest.
ZERO 1st hand fast fashion
Always check fabric labels
Size is a social construct
Learn your local (re)sources
Give as you receive
Always try, and learn from your mistakes
Know when to say no
Identify the places your wear clothes. All of them.
Fashion does not need to cost the Earth
These mindsets will be the first series of posts so stay tuned for a deeper dive into each of these topics. For now, just sit with this a bit. My goal is never to make people feel guilty or to shout dharma from the keyboard. I really want to start conversations, make women feel great in their clothes, and help spread the word that secondhand shopping is pretty dang fun.
